LOS ANGELES: At the current Red Sea Film Festival, actor Hrithk Roshan spoke at length about his career, life,  philanthropic work, and working with his father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan.

In response to a question about whether his father supported his decision to pursue acting, Roshan said, "My father was against me entering into films because of the difficulty that he had to go through." "He battled for 20 years, working very hard, and he did not want me to experience what he did. But I believe there was something incredibly determined inside of me" reports "Variety".

He said, "I wanted to prove myself because I grew up with a really bad stutter and this was my one chance to look and feel normal." He described how the isolation and exclusion he experienced as a result of his childhood stuttering inspired him to found a nonprofit organisation with the goal of assisting kids with special needs.

"This helped me mentally equalise everyone as a result. I recognise myself in every single person I encounter, which facilitates communication with others. It enhances my capacity for empathy, tolerance, and patience." Regarding the relationship between achievement and self-esteem that many people in the sector face, he said, "I wouldn't want this upon my children or the children of the world." "I'd prefer they have enough self-worth as children to be content with or without the success and then aspire to improve themselves as people or as performers or in whatever vocation they choose."
