Several districts across Telangana, including Hyderabad, Kamareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri, have been experiencing heavy rainfall for the fourth consecutive day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, predicting thunderstorms in multiple areas, such as Rangareddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal-Malkajgiri.

Gandhari Records Maximum Rainfall

Among the affected regions, Gandhari in Kamareddy district saw the highest rainfall at 97.3 mm. In Hyderabad, Patigadda recorded the most rainfall, with 40 mm, causing waterlogged roads and challenging conditions for commuters navigating the wet streets.

Air Quality Remains Good Despite Rain

Despite the continuous rainfall, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Hyderabad remained within satisfactory levels. As of Tuesday morning, AQI readings were 65 in Sanathnagar, 79 in Ramachandrapuram, 77 in ECIL Kapra, and 75 in IITH Kandi, reflecting clean air across the city.

IMD Thunderstorm Warning

The IMD previously issued a thunderstorm alert for 17 districts in Telangana, with the latest rains catching many by surprise, especially over the weekend in Hyderabad. However, the rain has provided relief from the heatwave that had dominated the region earlier in the week.

Record Monsoon Rainfall in 2024

This year’s monsoon has brought significant rainfall across India, marking the highest precipitation levels since 2020. According to the IMD, the country recorded 107.6 percent of its long-period average rainfall from June to September, helping to mitigate last year's drought conditions.
