Patna: The opposition's presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha has claimed that he has called Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar several times for support but he has not received it. Expressing surprise at the lack of support from Nitish Kumar, Sinha said the Odisha Chief Minister supported Draupadi Murmu because she comes from Odisha. Similarly, he is also from Bihar. Sinha said, "As soon as my name was announced for the presidential election, I tried to talk to Nitish Kumar several times over the phone but there was never a reply from his side. Maybe my level is not enough that I can take his time.''

At the time when Yashwant Sinha was speaking to the media, he was accompanied by the leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejashwi Yadav, Shatrughan Sinha and former aide of LK Advani, Sudheendra Kulkarni. Sinha said, "It would have been good for Bihar that after 60 years, someone would have become president from the state again. After Rajendra Prasad, no other son in Bihar would have sat in the tallest post in the country." Connecting with Bihar, Yashwant Sinha said that born in Patna city, and he studied and learned here. Thereafter, he served as an IIS in the Bihar cadre.

Yashwant Sinha said he does not understand why Nitish Kumar supported her. Earlier too, Bihar's daughter Meira Kumar had refused to support him while the Shiv Sena had supported Pratibha Patil only because she was from Maharashtra. While the Shiv Sena was against Congress at that time. Bureaucrat-turned-politician Yashwant Sinha has also been continuously attacking Draupadi Murmu. He says she will only act as a rubber stamp president. He also referred to the picture of Draupadi Murmu's nomination as to how she is filing her nomination in the presence of PM Narendra Modi. He said Pratibha Patil was also being considered a rubber stamp but she had submitted the nomination papers on her own. But Murmu's papers are being submitted by the PM. On the occasion, Yashwant Sinha also praised Tejashwi Yadav. He said they're doing a good job. Like the country, Bihar has also gone into the wrong hands. Hopefully, people will trust Tejashwi again.
