Recently, a gathering of Bollywood stars was seen at the IIFA Awards 2024 held in Abu Dhabi. The award show was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Vicky Kaushal, and filmmaker Karan Johar. During the show, many big artists made their presence felt and received awards in various categories. Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the Best Actor award, while Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress award.

Hemant Rao's anger on IIFA Awards:  While Bollywood stars were celebrating their victory, South's famous director Hemant Rao expressed deep dissatisfaction over the organization of this award show. Hemant Rao wrote a long post on social media and called the IIFA Awards 'disrespectful'. In his post, he raised many questions about the IIFA experience and called it extremely uncomfortable.

“I was made to sit till 3 am”: Hemanth Rao, a well-known director in Kannada cinema, expressed his displeasure at not getting an award and wrote, “The entire IIFA experience was very uncomfortable and humiliating for me. I have been in this industry for the last decade, and this was not my first award show. As usual, the winners are called, but this time I was made to sit till 3 am and finally understood that there were no awards. The same happened with my music director, Charan Raj.”

Nominees not even mentioned:  Rao further wrote in his post, “It is your award; you can give it to whomever you want. It is completely your choice. I have not won many awards, nor have I lost sleep over it, but if all the nominees were called and one of them was declared the winner, I would have no problem. In this year's format, only the winners were given awards, while the nominees were not even mentioned.”

"I don't need your award": Hemant Rao did not stop here. He took an even harsher stance in the post and wrote, "Maybe it will take some time for you and your team to understand that your award show runs on the talent displayed on your stage, not the other way around. I don't need your award to enjoy the best work in the world. The next time you need me on your stage, I won't be there. Take your award and keep it where the sun doesn't shine." This outrage of Hemant Rao has raised questions about the IIFA Awards. While the award show is seen as a form of entertainment, Rao called it a big insult to him personally. This incident has sparked a discussion among the audience about whether it is right to focus only on the winners in the award show while respecting the nominated persons is equally important.
