MUMBAI: NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Friday said that he became the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra twice and wanted the home ministry on both occasions, but his party's 'seniors' thought he would not listen to them if he got the key ministry. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ajit Pawar made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting of the NCP's Pune unit. Thereafter, an office-bearer said that he should become the Home Minister when the party becomes part of the government in future. Ajit Pawar jokingly said, "Last time, when I was made Deputy CM, I had said 'make me Home Minister', but seniors thought that if the post of Home Minister was given to me, I won't listen to them."

Ajit Pawar further said that after Anil Deshmukh's resignation from the post of Home Minister in April last year, he once again asked the party to give him the Home Ministry, but he did not get the portfolio. Later, while talking to the media, the NCP leader said that while addressing party workers, he had remarked about keeping an eye on the Home Ministry in a light note. Ajit Pawar said that I made this remark jokingly to cheer up the party workers in the hall who were looking lethargic and tired.

Along with this, on the raids of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the arrest of more than 100 of its leader-workers across the country, Ajit Pawar said that arrests were made in 12 to 15 states and the maximum was in Kerala-Maharashtra. It seems that keeping serious things in mind, the central government has decided to raid PFI.
