Born on September 28, 1929, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Lata Mangeshkar hailed from a Marathi family. Her father, Dinanath Mangeshkar, was a classical singer and theater actor. After his untimely death when Lata was just 13, she shouldered the responsibility of supporting her family, comprising three younger sisters and a brother. Her journey in the music industry began with singing in Marathi films, eventually leading her to Mumbai in 1945. Her first song was recorded in 1946, marking the beginning of an illustrious career.

Lata Mangeshkar's impact on Indian music is undeniable. Renowned singers like Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhana Sargam, Anuradha Paudwal, and Shreya Ghoshal consider her their guru.
