New Delhi: Former Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) NK Ganguly, while speaking to the press on Saturday, has said that coronavirus infection in Delhi has reached the third or the stage of community transmission. Ganguly further said, 'Get out of the illusion that the situation in Delhi is fine. With a lot of cases coming up every day, it would not be wrong to say that the Delhi community has reached the transmission or third phase.'

He said that many cities (Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad) with large number of cases of coronavirus are in the phase of community transmission. Otherwise, how can one justify hundreds of new cases every day? Describing the relaxation of the restrictions imposed during the lockdown as a positive step, Ganguly said that the authorities had to relax the lockdown and allow economic activity as people have to earn a livelihood and fight the virus.
