New Delhi: There is constant concern over the possibility of a third wave of corona. But now a study by ICMR claims that even if the third wave of corona occurs, it is not likely to be as frightening as the second wave. The study has been published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research (ICMR).

The study says that the vaccine protects infections by up to 60 percent of the severity. If people are vaccinated extensively in India for the next few days, the next wave is not expected to prevail as much. According to media reports, 40 percent of the population has taken both doses within three months of the second wave. It says the effect of vaccination is to reduce the severity of infection by 60 percent.

This shows that vaccination during the potential third wave can greatly reduce severity. Considering for hypotheses regarding the third wave, the study says that infection-based immune system may decrease over time, people already infected may re-infect, even if the existing virus essays (Unchanged).
