If you buy any product from the market, do you ever read the information written on the box carefully? Usually, we only check the expiry date and do not pay attention to the rest of the information. But recently a viral video has shown how companies mislead customers. After watching this video, people have called it an "eye-opening" clip and have appealed to share it as much as possible.

The truth of viral video

This viral video has been shared by influencer Revant Himatsingka, popularly known as 'Foodfarmer'. Revant posted this video on LinkedIn and wrote in the caption, "The truth about Indian packaged food that everyone should see." He appealed to the food safety officials to take the marketing tricks of the companies seriously and take necessary action.

Examples of corporate fraud

In the video, Revanth, while talking on a podcast, explains how companies mislead customers. He gave the example of a popular biscuit brand that claimed that the biscuits contained cashews, but in reality the amount of nuts was only 0.4 percent. Also, a biscuit was claimed to be 'Whole Wheat', while the amount of refined flour in it was 52.11 percent. According to Revanth, companies know that people do not pay attention to what is written on the box, and they take advantage of this.

Revanth's tough stand and impact

Revant Himatsingka is known for his strictness against FMCG companies. He had earlier exposed the Bournvita case, in which he found that Bournvita had a very high sugar content. After this revelation, Bournvita had to give up the 'health drink' tag after 75 years. After this, the Government of India instructed e-commerce websites not to put Bournvita in the category of health drinks. This viral video has increased awareness about the quality of food items and the marketing tricks of companies. It shows that we should read every piece of information written on the box carefully and look at the truth of the claims of the companies. Food safety officials should also take strict action against such fraud so that customers can get correct and safe food products.
