Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican candidate vying for the position of the U.S. President, has stated that being Hindu is not a hindrance to reaching the top position. He responded to questions about his faith during a program in Iowa's CNN Town Hall. A woman inquired about the perception that individuals of his faith could not become the President of the United States, given that their religion differs from that of the nation's founders. In colloquial terms, Ramaswamy was asked how he, not being Christian, could aspire to be President.

Referring to religious freedom in America, Ramaswamy mentioned that he is not the most suitable candidate for spreading the Christian faith. However, he believes that the role of the U.S. President is not about promoting a specific religion. He pledged to work for the values on which America was founded and uphold the Judeo-Christian values that he imbibed despite being a Hindu. He pointed out that Hinduism and Christianity share similar principles, emphasizing that his faith teaches him that God has sent everyone with a purpose, and achieving that purpose is the moral duty of every individual.

Highlighting the equality in all religious values, he stated, "While God may be different for each of us, we are equal. God resides in all of us. I believe that Hindu and Christian values are quite similar. For instance, respect your parents, do not commit murder, do not lie, do not deceive, do not steal, and do not become immoral. In this way, the foundational values of Hinduism are akin to Christian values."

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Vivek Ramaswamy proudly acknowledged his Hindu identity. On November 18, 2023, during The Daily Signal's Family Leader Forum program, he spoke passionately about Sanatan Dharma, expressing gratitude for the freedom it provides him. He stated, "My Hinduism gives me freedom. It is this faith that has truly inspired me to run for candidacy in the presidential campaign and I have discussed it in all my campaigns."

Further explaining, Ramaswamy said, "I am grateful for your interest in knowing about my religion. I am a Hindu. I believe in God. I believe that there is one true God. God has sent us all into this world with a purpose. My religion teaches me that we all have a moral duty to understand and achieve that purpose. God is always with us, guiding us in different ways."
