To make Jackfruit Pakoras, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 500 grams ripe jackfruit : Wash the jackfruit, remove its fibers and cut it into small pieces.
  • 1 cup gram flour : Gram flour acts as a coating for the pakoras.
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder : to taste.
  • ½ tsp coriander powder : For adding a slight aroma and flavour to the pakoras.
  • Garam masala : To enhance the taste.
  • Turmeric powder : For colour and flavour.
  • ½ tsp ajwain (carom seeds ) : For flavour and crispy texture of the pakoras.
  • A pinch of asafoetida : To enhance the taste of pakoras.
  • Salt to taste : For flavour in pakoras.
  • Water : To make the paste.

Method for making Jackfruit Pakoras

  1. Prepare the jackfruit : First, wash the jackfruit thoroughly. After that, remove the fibers of the jackfruit and cut it into small pieces.

  2. Prepare the paste : Add gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, celery, asafoetida and salt in a large vessel. Mix all these things well and prepare a smooth paste by adding water. Keep in mind that the paste should not be too thick.

  3. Add jackfruit to the paste : Add the chopped jackfruit pieces to the prepared paste and mix well. If the paste is too thick, you can add some more water.

  4. Heat the oil : Heat the oil in a pan. Heat the oil on medium flame so that the pakoras can cook well and become crispy.

  5. Fry the pakoras : Make small balls from the prepared paste and put them in hot oil. Fry the pakoras until they become golden and crispy.

  6. Remove the pakoras : After the pakoras are fried well, remove them from the oil and place them on a plate. Serve them with green chutney or tomato sauce.

Things to note

  • While washing jackfruit, do not extract its milk as this may cause the pakoras to turn black.
  • Fry the pakoras on medium flame, so that they get cooked well from inside as well.
  • If you want, you can also add finely chopped onion and green chillies to the paste, which will further enhance the taste of the pakora.

By following these easy steps, you can prepare delicious jackfruit pakoras at home. Not only will your family love it, but it can also be a great snack for guests. Enjoy both the rainy season and jackfruit pakoras!
