IIT Bombay has wrapped up the initial phase of its 2023-24 academic year placement drive, witnessing a bustling participation from 388 companies both nationally and internationally. Among these, 85 students secured offers exceeding Rs 1 crore per annum. The average annual salary climbed to Rs 24.02 lakh, marking an increase from the previous year's Rs 21.82 lakh.

By December 20, 2023, IIT Bombay students amassed a total of 1,340 job offers, leading to placements for 1,188 individuals. Notably, seven students landed positions in public sector units (PSUs), while 258 accepted pre-placement offers (PPOs) following internships out of the 297 received.

The opportunities extended beyond national borders, with 63 students securing international job offers from various countries including Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The majority of placements centered around engineering, technology, IT, software, finance, banking, fintech, management consulting, data science, analytics, research and development, and design sectors.

IIT Bombay adopts a structured company slotting system to alleviate student stress and minimize overlapping offers. Companies engaged with candidates through in-person or virtual interviews, conducted directly at the venue.

Among the prominent recruiters during IIT Bombay placements were Accenture, Airbus, Air India, Apple, Arthur D Little, Bajaj, Barclays, Cohesity, Da Vinci, DHL, Fullerton, Future First, GE-ITC, Global Energy and Environ, Google, Honda R&D, ICICI-Lombard, ideaForge, IMC Trading, Intel, Jaguar Land Rover, JP Morgan Chase, JSW, Kotak Securities, Marsh McLennan, Mahindra Group, Micron, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, Mercedes-Benz, and L&T.

Despite prevailing global and economic uncertainties, the total count of 1,340 offers until December 20, led to placements for 1,188 students. This figure was slightly lower than the previous year's tally during the initial phase of placements.
