Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) and Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), Japan, the parent company of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the country's largest automaker, have signed a three-year agreement to establish the Suzuki Innovation Centre (SIC) with the goal of "creating innovations for India and Japan" by establishing a knowledge-sharing platform.

SIC will serve as a hub for open innovation between industries, universities, and startups. The Centre would also help India and Japan improve their skills and exchange human resources.

SIC is another key milestone for IITH in its efforts to deepen the India-Japan connection. IITH has provided the required support for the centre within the Technology Research Park as part of this programme.

The SIC will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange between the two organisations, with the goal of "creating breakthroughs for India and Japan."

Apart from tackling broad concerns related to and beyond mobility, the Centre will also assist skill development and human resource exchange between India and Japan.
