Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has raised serious concerns about the impact of Bangladeshi intruders in Jharkhand, sharing a four-year-old news report to illustrate the consequences of such intrusion. Marandi claims that there is an ongoing conspiracy to turn Jharkhand into a 'mini Bangladesh'.

He recently shared a newspaper clipping on social media, which reported that children in a school in Ghatsila were assigned homework to memorize the national anthems of Bangladesh and Pakistan. Marandi criticized this, stating, “LKG and UKG class children are being brainwashed at a young age by making them memorize the national anthems of Bangladesh and Pakistan. This is not a coincidence, but a dangerous experiment to erase the tribal indigenous identity of Jharkhand. There is a need to thoroughly investigate the gang running and funding this school involved in anti-national activities.”

Marandi further accused the JMM-Congress coalition government of allowing Bangladeshi intruders to settle in Jharkhand using fake documents. He suggested that the government, which he claims is complicit in these activities, will not address the issue adequately. He has therefore requested the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate and take appropriate action.

This issue, first highlighted in July 2020, had stirred significant controversy, with accusations of an attempt to Islamize education in Jharkhand. Recently, the Jharkhand High Court has renewed focus on the problem, expressing concern over the presence of Bangladeshi intruders. On July 3, 2024, the court directed the state government to create an action plan for the extradition of these intruders and to submit an affidavit within two weeks.

The infiltration of Bangladeshi immigrants is reportedly affecting the tribal society in Jharkhand adversely. Illegal madrassas are allegedly proliferating, and there have been reports of tribal girls being coerced into marriage, used in Panchayat elections, and their families involved in illicit activities such as drug trafficking. Additionally, documents for these infiltrators are reportedly being forged to obtain government benefits.

The shared news highlights how the influence of Islamic education has reportedly led to students being assigned national anthems of Pakistan and Bangladesh rather than India. After protests from parents, the school, named 'Nandlal Smriti Vidya Mandir', withdrew the assignment.

Marandi also drew parallels with Bihar, where he claimed that an increase in the Muslim population in Seemanchal led to changes in the weekly holiday from Sunday to Friday (Juma). He criticized anti-BJP political parties for their silence on the issue in Jharkhand, accusing them of prioritizing Muslim appeasement over addressing the concerns of the tribal communities.
