New Delhi: People of the national capital Delhi will have to wait for another week for the monsoon. This estimate has been made by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The department said it will take another week for the monsoon to officially arrive in Delhi. Kuldeep Srivastava, Chief, Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, IMD said, "Monsoon is unlikely to move forward in other parts of the country including Delhi for at least the next seven days".

Srivastava further said that unless there is Monsoon rainfall in Delhi, Delhiites will have to face humid weather. The monsoon has so far covered most parts of the country except some parts of Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. "The main feature of monsoon in 2021 is its progress before normal (7-10 days) in eastern, central and adjoining north-west India," IMD said. However, further progress is unlikely to be made in other parts of the country during the next seven days".

The monsoon of the northern border is passing through Barmer, Bhilwara, Dholpur, Aligarh, Meerut, Ambala and Amritsar. The country has received 37 percent more rainfall till Monday. North-West India recorded 76 percent more rainfall, Central India 58 percent more, South Peninsula 24 percent more and East and North East India 13%.
