Islamabad: Pak PM Imran Khan has written a letter to the leaders of Muslim countries urging them to make collective efforts to counter the growing trend of 'Islamophobia'. The letter posted on Imran Khan's official Twitter account stated that, "Recent statements at the leadership level and incidents involving insulting the Quran are a reflection of this growing Islamophobia that is spreading rapidly in European countries, where a large number of Muslim population lives in it.

This letter has been written in  view of the publication of cartoons on Prophet Mohammed and comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron. Pak PM Imran Khan has requested the leaders of Muslim countries to "collectively lead to break this cycle of hatred and extremism".

Pakistan had summoned French Ambassador Mark Bareti on Monday to register strong opposition to the publication of cartoons on Prophet Mohammed and the statement of French President Macron. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi presented a resolution in the National Assembly on the same day, strongly condemning the publication of cartoons in France and acts against Islam in some countries. This resolution was unanimously passed.
