Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spinner Imran Tahir is delivering brilliant performances in the IPL and has won the  matches for his team and played an important role in making place in final. Now, in final encounter with Mumbai Indians on Sunday, he surpassed his teammate Harbhajan Singh and KKR's Sunil Narine to script a huge record in Indian Premier League (IPL) during the IPL 2019 final against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. With his impressive figure of 2/23 in his three-overs quota, Tahir became the highest wicket-taking spinner in a single IPL season.

Tahir dismissed Suryakumar Yadav in the very second ball of the evening for a score of 15 before he returned in the 15th over to get rid of Ishan Kishan for 23. With those twin scalps, he amassed 26 wickets this season, which is the most by a spinner in an IPL season. He surpassed the tally of 24 by Narine in 2012 and Harbhajan in 2013.

He also surpassed Delhi Capitals pacer Kagiso Rabada to reclaim the Purple Cap and win it as well. Rabada, who had missed DC's last-gasp run in IPL 2019, had picked up 25 wickets in 12 innings.
