Tollywood icon Suriya, along with his fans, said a joint prayer on Wednesday for the safe return of Indians trapped in Ukraine, which is now battling a Russian invasion.

Suriya said after the launch of the trailer for his new film, 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan,' which is set to hit theatres on March 10, "Even while we celebrate this occasion here, a large number of innocent Indians, especially children, are stranded in Ukraine. They all must safely return home."There are around 15,000 people left, according to reports. It's difficult to go about there without a car. Our government is doing everything it can, yet our hearts flutter when we see pictures and video clips.

"We have lost a dear brother yesterday. I have faith in joint prayers. Let us all pray together that without any loss of life, everybody must safely come back home," the actor said and offered a joint prayer with his fans. After the brief prayer, Suriya said," I believe our prayers will facilitate their safe return to our homeland."
