KABUL: Seven employees of a petroleum company were killed in a roadside bomb blast in northern Afghanistan on Tuesday, according to a spokesman for the provincial police.

"The bomb was placed in a vehicle by the side of the road. Asif Waziri, a police officer with the Balkh Police Division in Mazar-i-Sharif, claimed that the bomb went off as the bus approached."

Although the Taliban claim they have increased security across the country since seizing control in August last year, there have been numerous bombings and other attacks, many claimed by local Daesh affiliates.

Earlier this month, at least 19 people were killed and 24 wounded in a blast at a seminary in Aibak, southeast of Mazar-i-Sharif.

Waziri told AFP that the explosion occurred at around 7:00 a.m. (0230 GMT) on Tuesday in the city's Syed Abad Square neighborhood.
He claimed that six people were injured in the blast.
There has been no claim of responsibility, and further details were not immediately available.

At least 16 people were killed and 24 wounded in an explosion at a seminary in the northern Afghan city of Aibak on 30 November, a doctor at a nearby hospital said.

Since the Taliban regained control in August last year, there have been a number of explosions and attacks that target civilians, with the local Daesh branch claiming responsibility for most of them.

Most of the victims were children, according to a doctor in Aibak, some 200 kilometers (130 miles) north of the capital Kabul.

Despite his request to remain anonymous, he told AFP that "they are all kids and regular people."

Ten students were killed according to the Taliban, who often exaggerate casualties, and "many others" were wounded.

"Our detectives and security forces are working swiftly to identify the perpetrators of this unforgivable crime and bring them to justice for their actions," according to a tweet by Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafey Takor.

Pictures and videos going viral on social media showed Taliban fighters fighting their way through bodies strewn on the floor of the building, but this could not be immediately confirmed.

Ever since the Taliban has captured the power of Afghanistan, since then the incidents of bomb blasts and such Islamic terrorism keep coming to the fore in Afghanistan, due to which the common people have to face huge problems.
