BEIJING: After tensions with India, China faced criticism all around. The US first banned the Chinese consulate in Houston, while Russia has now announced that it will immediately cancel the supply of the S-400 missile defence system to China.

The S-400 is a large system missile system with surface-to-air firepower. Russia has prohibited the delivery, stating that the date will be set for the delivery of the S-400 in the coming time. The Russian media agency, quoting the Chinese newspaper, has informed that this time Russia has announced that it has stopped handing over the S-400 missile system to China. It has been told in the newspaper, the task of delivering these weapons is very complicated, because China may have to send military personnel and technical staff for training. Russia also needs to send a large number of its technical personnel to Beijing to bring weapons into service, which is a very difficult task at this time.

After Russia suspended the supply of missiles, China has said that Moscow is forced to take this step because it does not want to divert the attention of the Chinese Communist Party engaged in dealing with COVID. In 2018, the first batch of S-400 missile was revealed to China. The S-400 air defence missile system is said to be the most advanced system of its kind in Russia, capable of finishing targets up to a distance of 400 km and a height of 30 km.
