On Wednesday, a joint team of Kangpokpi district police, Assam Rifles, forest department, and narcotics and border affairs (NAB) demolished roughly 8 acres of illicit poppy production at three different locations in the district's Saikul police station. The NAB is a division of the Manipur police force.

In a separate operation, Kangpokpi police confiscated 165 litres of distilled illicit liquor from three different locations in the area on Thursday. During a checking drive on National Highway 2 (Imphal-Dimapur road), 80 and 50 litres of liquor were recovered at numerous places, while 35 litres were seized at the Kholep junction, according to the SP.
