New Delhi: On his way to Bihar’s Nawada to get married, a 19-year-old man died after he fell from a moving train while fighting off a phone snatcher near Dhaula Kuan railway station Monday. The victim was going to Nawada to get married. In an attempt to fight a phone snatcher, the deceased lost his life.

The incident took place near the Dhaula Kuan railway station. Relatives of Roshan Kumar, the victim, said he was speaking to his fiancée at the door of the passenger train when the snatcher struck. The deceased allegedly opened the gate and was on the phone when a snatcher tried to snatch his phone. The deceased allegedly resisted and tried to fight off the accused. The accused held on to an iron bar but eventually lost his control and fell on the railway tracks. Soon afterward, he lost consciousness and later died at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.
DCP (Railways) Dinesh Kumar Gupta said police have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. “We have tracked the accused and will arrest him soon. Even though such cases fall under the Railway Protection Force, we are leaving no stone unturned to work out this case.” The cousin of the deceased, Sonu alleged that their family was going to the deceased's wedding and the deceased was talking to his fiance on the phone when the incident took place. Kumar’s fiancee still doesn’t know he’s dead.
The family boarded the train at New Delhi Railway Station and were traveling in the general coach. Roshan’s uncle said, as the train was entering Delhi Cantt railway station, someone jumped onto the train and tried to snatch Roshan’s phone. As Roshan tried to stop the man, he lost balance and fell from the train. The train ran over his leg.
