New Delhi: West Bengal's Trinamool Congress (TMC) government has filed their reply in the apex court on a committee set up to probe the Pegasus case. The lawyer on behalf of the West Bengal government responded to the Supreme Court on Wednesday. He replied that the inquiry committee will not do anything unless the apex court decides the petitions filed in the Pegasus case.
In fact, the Mamata government in West Bengal had constituted a two-member committee headed by former Supreme Court Judge Madan B Lokur to probe the Pegasus case. The Mamata government's decision was challenged in the apex court. Earlier, the apex court had asked the Mamata government to file a reply on August 25. Following the apex court's direction, the Mamata government filed a reply in the Supreme Court through their lawyer on the inquiry committee.
The Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Mamata government on August 18 while hearing the Pegas dispute. The apex court had sought a response while hearing a petition challenging the Mamata government's commission of inquiry set up to probe the Pegasus dispute. The supreme court had fixed August 25 as the next hearing in the case. The question in the petition was why the Mamata government has constituted a commission of inquiry when the dispute is being heard by the apex court itself.
