New Delhi: The opposition has attacked the central government over the Shanal Monetisation Pipeline. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted from his official Twitter handle accusing the Central government of selling the country. He tweeted, "First sold faith and now...#IndiaOnSale."

Earlier on Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said, "Whatever this country has built in the last 70 years, it is being given. They have an excuse that we are giving them on lease. The government clearly handled the economy the wrong way and doesn't know what to do. The Center has basically destroyed what the UPA made and now as a last resort, they are selling everything that we made. It's a big tragedy for me."

At the same time, regarding privatization, the Congress MP said that 'We are not against privatization, but our privatization plan had some meaning. We did not privatize strategic industries and we consider railways as strategic industries because it transports lakhs and crores of people and also provides employment to many people. We have privatized the loss-making industries for a long time. We privatized those companies which had a minimum market share. We have not privatized public sector enterprises with the potential to prevent the monopoly of the private sector in a particular sector.''
