The long-awaited debut of Navi Mumbai's inaugural metro line kicks off today, marking a significant milestone for the region. Detailed information about timings, ticket costs, routes, and additional specifics are provided below.

The commencement of metro services in Navi Mumbai begins today (November 17). Spanning 11 kilometers, the elevated Metro Rail Line 1 that links Belapur and Pendhar will officially open its doors to the public, as announced by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), the state-run planning authority.

In a statement released by CIDCO, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to all Navi Mumbaikars. The Maharashtra government had instructed CIDCO to expedite the metro's operationalization for the citizens of Navi Mumbai. Consequently, metro services are being launched without awaiting an official public event.

"The metro services are poised to significantly enhance connectivity within Navi Mumbai. Our government is committed to establishing a robust network of metro lines across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. CIDCO has effectively spearheaded the implementation of the metro network in Navi Mumbai," stated Shinde.

The metro service's inaugural journey will commence today from Pendhar to Belapur Terminal and Belapur Terminal to Pendhar, starting at 3 pm and concluding with the final service at 10 pm.

Effective November 18, the first service between Pendhar to Belapur Terminal and vice versa will begin at 6 am, operating until 10 pm with a frequency of every 15 minutes.

Regarding ticket pricing, the fare structure is as follows:

Rs. 10 for distances of 0 to 2 KM
Rs. 15 for 2 to 4 KM
Rs. 20 for 4 to 6 KM
Rs. 25 for 6 to 8 KM
Rs. 30 for 8 to 10 KM
Rs. 40 for distances beyond 10 KM

The inaugural metro line between Belapur and Pendhar encompasses 11 stations, with the depot situated at Taloja Panchanand.

It's worth noting that the metro route had been completed and certified for operations some time ago. However, reports suggested that the state government had been awaiting the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi before initiating services.
