Inclusion of Aviation Turbine Fuel to raise in GST in next Council meet: FM

NEW DELHI: Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, stated on Sunday that she will raise the matter of inclusion of aviation turbine fuel in the Goods and Service Tax (GST) Council's next meeting.

Finance Minister was speaking at a post-Budget interaction session organised by industry chamber Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

During the event, Ajay Singh, Vice President of ASSOCHAM and Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, spoke on behalf of the civil aviation, travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors, highlighting the challenges faced by these industries as a result of Covid.

In addition to including Aviation Turbine Fuel under the GST, he asked the Finance Minister to consider giving these sectors infrastructure status to make it easier for banks and financial institutions to lend to them, SpiceJet said in a statement.
