8 covid-19 patients have lost their lives due to lack of oxygen at Batra Hospital in Delhi. Out of which 6 were on high flow oxygen in ICU. Among the dead was Dr. RK Himthani of the gastro department of Batra Hospital.
Oxygen suppliers are not picking up phones: Where It has been revealed that Dr. SCL Gupta, Medical Director, Batra Hospital, said, 'We are trying to save five other serious patients.' The hospital administration has also said that oxygen suppliers are not picking up the phone. The tragic incident comes after hospitals in the national capital sent SOS messages last week about the shortage of oxygen supply. The Delhi government had said that life-saving gas was being allocated to the city below the prescribed quantity.
The court had expressed concern: According to the information received, the Delhi High Court has recently issued an order to the Delhi government to resolve the problem expeditiously while hearing the oxygen shortage case on April 28. The supply was expected to return to normal in the next 72 hours by the Delhi Government. A bench of Justice Pratibha Singh had expressed concern over the situation at Batra Hospital. She said, "When patients find out that the Batra Hospital is running out of oxygen, you can understand their mood. The court had asked Batra Hospital that this is such a big hospital, yet why don't you have an oxygen plant?''
