Melbourne: On the final day of the third test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, India made history by defeating Australia by 137 runs. India has won the Boxing Day Test for the first time. India needed two wickets to win on the last day of the match, while Australia had to score 141 runs to win the match.

Fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah has been adjudged Man of the Match for taking 9 wickets in this match. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja, India's second inning, jumped three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah sent the pavilion to Pat Cummins at the start of the day. Ishant Sharma, as the last wicket, gave India a win by catching Lion at the hands of Pant. It is notable that India had scored 443 runs in the first innings at a loss of 7 wickets, in reply to Australia's 151 runs.
