Melbourne: Virat Kohli's bat is scoring runs fiercely in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. After playing his career-best innings against Pakistan, Kohli took the class of the Netherlands bowlers at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday. Kohli scored an unbeaten 62 off 44 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes. With this inning, Virat has also achieved a big position in the T20 World Cup records. Virat has now become the second batsman to score the most runs in the T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli has left behind West Indies' stormy batsman Chris Gayle in this case. Virat has now scored 989 runs in the T20 World Cup. He has scored these runs at an average of 89.90 in 21 innings. During this time he has scored 12 half-centuries. Kohli has now reached the second position in terms of scoring the most runs in the T20 World Cup. Gayle is third with 965 runs. The list is topped by Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene, who has scored 1,016 runs in 31 matches.
This is Kohli's fourth half-century in five innings in T20 International cricket at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He has earlier scored 85, 40, 61* and 50 runs at this ground. Virat has also done a big job in terms of making the highest 50-plus score in the T20 World Cup. Virat now has 12 fifties in T20 WC, while Gayle and Indian captain Rohit Sharma have 9-9 fifties.
