New Delhi: Today is the second day of the first Test between India and South Africa. In this match, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal dominated the first day, while the first session of the second day also dominated by the Indian batsmen. Rohit and Mayank shared a 300-plus partnership against South Africa, which was just the third time in Indian Test cricket. The duo of Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal had to open the Test for the first time against South Africa.
Both of them played an excellent partnership in their first opening innings and gave the team a strong start. A new opening pair started the innings after 47 years on Indian soil. Both added 317 runs for the first wicket. In this, Rohit scored 176 runs while Mayank got 137 runs off the bat. The triple century made by Indian openers Rohit and Mayank against South Africa came just for the third time in Indian Test history.
Earlier, the opening pair of India had shared a partnership of 300 runs. In 1956, Pankaj Roy and Vinoo Mankad shared a 413-run partnership against New Zealand. In 2006, Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid shared 410 runs against Pakistan in Lahore. This partnership is India's biggest partnership against South Africa.
