The Rohit Sharma-led Team India will play South Africa in the second T20I on Sunday at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in an effort to win the three-match series. After easily defeating the Proteas in the first T20I, Rohit and company are moving on to the series finale. The first T20I between India and Temba Bavuma's team was won by India by an 8-wicket margin thanks to half-centuries from opener KL Rahul and middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav.

Prior to the second T20I, the competition's organisers imported two "very lightweight" pitch covers for India's forthcoming encounter against the Proteas in Guwahati. In the event of rain, the organisers are careful to minimise time lost. Rain may ruin the second Twenty20 International between South Africa and India in Guwahati, according to recent events.

Accuweather predicts that thunderstorms may occur in Guwahati on Sunday and that three hours of rain are anticipated to fall in the evening in Assam's largest metropolis. The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) currently has 20 or so covers, “These imported covers ensure that water or moisture does not seep into the pitch,” ACA secretary Devajit Saikia was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The earlier encounter between India and Australia was shortened to eight overs for each side due to the Nagpur rain gods' intervention. Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati has a capacity of about 39,000 spectators. Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India, stated that a sizable contingent of supporters had gathered to witness the Men in Blue during a media conference.

"Since June, when things opened up, every time we play in India, every stadium has been packed. That's a great thing. I am sure the boys really appreciate the fans cheering for them, hopefully supporting good cricket. I think it's a wicket that would support good cricket,” Dravid said.
