NEW DELHI: Amidst the commemoration of the 77th Independence Day, a noteworthy count of 954 diligent police personnel hailing from various corners of the nation set to be honored with the esteemed Police Medals. This ceremonial gesture signifies a profound recognition of their remarkable contributions.

Among the distinguished awards, the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) was bestowed upon an exceptional CRPF member, while the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) was deservedly granted to 229 dedicated officers. Furthermore, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) found its deserving recipients in 82 individuals, and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) adorned the uniforms of 642 diligent officers.

The canvas of these Gallantry Awards portrays a diverse array, where a majority of the 230 recipients were meticulously selected from regions that have borne the brunt of Left Wing Extremism. Additionally, 125 gallant officers emerged from such areas, while 71 emerged from the challenging terrain of Jammu and Kashmir, and an honorable 11 from the North East region. Intriguingly, the tapestry of awardees includes 28 valorous individuals from the CRPF, 33 resilient souls from Maharashtra, 55 stalwarts from the Jammu and Kashmir police force, 24 resilient hearts from Chhattisgarh, along with 22 individuals from Telangana, and 18 from Andhra Pradesh. The rest hail from diverse states, Union Territories, and Central Armed Police Forces, forming a tapestry of diversity and dedication.
