New Delhi: On the occasion of India's 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag for the 11th consecutive time at the historic Red Fort. Addressing the nation, Modi expressed his firm belief that the collective effort of 140 crore Indians can lead to a prosperous and developed country if they remain united in their resolve. His speech highlighted the government's dedication to reform, driven not by political pressure but by a commitment to put the nation first.

Key Points from PM Modi's Speech:
Modi emphasized that the reforms implemented under his leadership are designed to foster growth and uplift the middle class and the poor. These changes aim to disrupt the old mindset of maintaining the status quo, paving the way for a better future. He highlighted the strength of the banking sector, which has played a pivotal role in supporting progress across various fields.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the countless individuals who sacrificed their lives for India's freedom, acknowledging the debt the nation owes to these brave souls. He also expressed concern over the increasing occurrence of natural disasters and offered condolences to the families affected by recent tragedies.

This address marked Modi's first Independence Day speech of his third term as Prime Minister. It placed him ahead of Dr. Manmohan Singh, who hoisted the tricolor 10 times during his tenure, and just behind Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, who performed the honors 17 and 16 times, respectively. Before arriving at the Red Fort, Modi visited Mahatma Gandhi's memorial to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.

Modi reiterated that, despite resource challenges, the unity of the Indian people can help the country achieve its goal of becoming prosperous and developed. He spoke passionately about his vision for a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) by 2047 and shared that people from diverse backgrounds across the country have contributed suggestions for this agenda. These ideas include reforms in the justice system, initiatives to build capacity, and the promotion of traditional Indian medicine.

The Prime Minister also reflected on the government's achievements, such as bringing electricity to previously unelectrified regions, providing piped water to millions of homes, promoting the 'vocal for local' initiative, and expanding the renewable energy sector. These accomplishments, he said, have instilled new confidence and a sense of pride among the people.

India's fintech sector, in particular, has garnered global attention, with other nations eager to learn from its successes. This international recognition, Modi noted, is a testament to the country's growing influence on the world stage.
