India adds marginal rise in new Covid cases, 71 deaths

NEW DELHI: India reported 1,086 new Covid cases on Wednesday, slightly higher than the previous day's count of 795 infections in a 24-hour period, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In the same timeframe, 71 people died as a result of Covid, bringing the overall death toll to 5,21,487.

The country's active caseload has dropped to 11,871 cases, continuing a declining trend. Active cases account for 0.03 percent of all positive cases in the country.

In the previous 24 hours, 1,198 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 4,24,97,568 since the start of the epidemic. As a result, India's recovery rate is 98.76 percent. A total of 4,81,374 tests were done across the country during the same time period. In total, India has conducted approximately 79.20 crore tests.

The weekly and daily positivity rates have also been steadily declining. The country's weekly positivity percentage is currently 0.22 percent, while the daily positivity rate is also claimed to be 0.23 percent.

According to provisional reports as of 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning, India's COVID-19 immunisation coverage had surpassed 185.04 crore. This was accomplished by a total of 2,22,69,994 sessions.
