In a significant move to bolster diplomatic ties, India and Moldova have inked an agreement enabling visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and official passports from either nation. The pact, signed on Friday, aims to facilitate seamless travel between the two countries without the hassle of obtaining a visa.

Representatives from both sides, Pavan Kapoor, secretary (West) from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India, and Ana Taban, ambassador from Moldova, sealed the deal, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations, as announced in an MEA press release.

The agreement is poised to inject fresh energy into the already warm and friendly relationship shared by India and Moldova, according to the MEA. With the implementation of this agreement, diplomats and officials from both countries can traverse borders freely, fostering closer cooperation and understanding.

India and Moldova established diplomatic ties back in March 1992, laying the groundwork for decades of amicable relations. The recent exchange of pleasantries between Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Mihai Popsoi, Moldova's newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, further underscores the commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Jaishankar, expressing his eagerness to deepen collaboration, extended congratulations to Popsoi via a post on social media platform X. He emphasized the importance of working together to enhance the enduring bond between India and Moldova, setting the stage for a promising future of mutual growth and prosperity.
