India secured their spot in the final by crushing defending champions England by 68 runs in Guyana on Thursday. This marks South Africa's first senior men's final since the inaugural Champions Trophy in Bangladesh in 1998, where they defeated the West Indies. Despite producing many talented players over the years, the team has been labeled "chokers" by critics due to their inability to reach a final for 26 years.

Captain Aiden Markram, who was part of the team that lost to Australia in the ODI World Cup last year, said the players haven't focused on past disappointments. "We haven't spoken about it, to be honest. It's a personal and individual motivation to get to a final and earn the opportunity to lift the trophy," he said after their victory over Afghanistan. Reflecting on the semi-final loss five months ago, Markram noted how a few things went their way this time, allowing them to secure a place in the final.

Strong Performances
South Africa has shown no signs of lacking belief in this tournament. They topped Group D with a 100% record, including wins over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In the Super Eights, they continued their dominance with victories over England, co-hosts West Indies, and the USA.

Indian Veterans Seek Glory
For India, veterans Rohit Sharma, 37, and Virat Kohli, 35, entered the tournament seeking one last shot at glory. While Rohit has been the top run-scorer in the final with 248 runs, Kohli has struggled, scoring just 75 runs in seven innings. However, the final provides the perfect stage for Kohli to turn his form around.
