Leh: The ongoing confrontation between India and China in the Union Territory of Ladakh is not going to end. The 13th Core Commander-level meeting was held on Sunday to resolve this, but there was no solution. The meeting lasted about 8.30 hours in Moldova on Sunday. It discussed ending the ongoing standoff in the Eastern Ladakh sector.

A statement issued by India said the meeting was held in Chushul-Moldova on Sunday. It talked about India's complete de-escalation in Eastern Ladakh, which China did not agree on. Meaning the deadlock won't end right now. In a conversation on Sunday, the Indian delegation was led by Lt Gen PGK Menon, commander of the 14th Corps in Leh. In the meeting, India said that the gradual de-escalation of Pangong Lake, Galwan and Gogra and buffer zones that have been created there cannot lead to a final resolution to end the conflict. China wants to create a similar buffer zone in the Hot Spring region.

A buffer zone of 3-10 kilometres means that India cannot patrol the area as it has already done. At the same time, China is reluctant to negotiate issues such as Depsang and Demchok, which are not part of the May 2020 standoff.
