New Delhi: Continuous efforts are being made to eradicate the corona epidemic. India has now extended a helping hand to overcome the shortage of oxygen in Bangladesh. Indian Railways will deliver a consignment of 200 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen from the Oxygen Express train on Sunday to assist neighbouring Bangladesh in the war against Covid-19.
According to the Ministry of Railways, the Oxygen Express of Indian Railways has left for Bangladesh. This is the first time that Oxygen Express has been operationalised for the neighbouring country. 200 MT of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) is being transported from Tatanagar in Chakradharpur division under South Eastern Railway to Benapol in Bangladesh. It is expected to arrive tomorrow morning.
According to the Ministry of Railways, the loading of 200 metric tonnes of LMO in 10 container rakes was completed on Saturday morning. Oxygen Express was launched by Indian Railways on April 24, 2021 to provide relief to Indian states in need of medical oxygen. More than 35,000 MT of LMO were transported to 15 states. Takriban 480 Oxygen Express was operated. Indian Railways is trying to deliver as many LMO as possible in the shortest possible time.
