The draft of this new framework will be ready by December. At the same time, the new syllabus is likely to be ready by March next year.

The ministry has said in a statement that the work of preparing a new curriculum for school education has started. The NCERT is expected to make necessary changes in the books as per the new syllabus. Experts will start this process for school education. In this case, an interim report will be submitted by December 2020. The new syllabus is expected to be ready by March 2021. The NCERT books have been revised only five times so far, in 1975, 1988, 2000 and 2005.

The Ministry has instructed the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) that while making changes in the textbooks, it should be kept in mind that there is nothing else in it other than facts.
