In the midst of a nationwide lockdown, telecom companies' organization COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India) on Wednesday said that mobile consumers should use the internet responsibly (data) to reduce pressure on the telecom network infrastructure and smooth the critical services related to it. With this, COAI has appealed to people at a time when work from the lockdown period And measures such as community distance have led to a 30% jump in data consumption in the last few days. COAI Director General Rajan Mathews said, "People are being appealed not to use the Internet without need." They should use it responsibly so that online education, digital health services, payment and other important services related to the Internet run smoothly and uninterrupted. Whereas, he said, mobile consumers can choose off-peak hours such as early morning or late evening for internet use. Also before this, COAI recently wrote to the government from companies like Facebook, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video It was requested to give instructions to reduce the burden on the network.

Restrictions on HD and Ultra HD content
To ease pressure on telecom networks, video streaming companies such as Google, Facebook, TicketLock, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar Viacom-18, MX Player, Zee and Sony prohibited the transmission of HD and Ultra HD content during the lockdown period. Has given These companies said in a joint statement, "It has been decided to stop the transmission of these materials till April 14 in view of national and consumer interests."

25 percent traffic will be reduced
"In view of the crisis, we have developed a way to reduce Netflix's traffic on the telecom network by 25 percent," said Ken Florence, vice president (content delivery), Netflix. So consumers will continue to get the quality that comes with their plan. This will provide considerable relief to the congested network and this measure will be implemented in India for the next 30 days. At the same time, Facebook spokesperson said that to avoid any possible jam on the telecom network, we will temporarily reduce the bitrate of video on Facebook and Instagram in India.
