NEW DELHI: The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) said on Sunday that it wants India to participate in the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has sent a proposal to the Government to boycott the Games on the removal of shooting from the Commonwealth Games, after which the CGF said this.

The CGF said they would like to meet IOA officials in the impending future to address the concerns. In an email to a news agency, CGF's media and communications manager Tas Sdegan said, "We want India to participate in the 2022 Birmingham Games and are keen on meeting with its partners in India in the coming months to discuss their apprehensions and future plans. a can be negotiated. ''

IN an unexpected move, IOA President Narinder Batra wrote to Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday, proposing a boycott of the Games and sought permission from the government on the removal of shooting snapshot from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Earlier, the IOA withdrew its name from the general assembly of the CGF to protest the expulsion of the shooting, which is scheduled to be held in Rwanda in September.

The IOA had also withdrawn the names of Rajiv Mehta for the post of Regional Vice President and Namdev Shirgaonkar as a member of the Sports Committee. "We are naturally disappointed that our colleagues in India have decided not to come to the 2019 CGF General Assembly in Rwanda with other Commonwealth nations and regions, especially because of the future strategic direction of the Commonwealth Games campaign here.'

Batra denounced the CGF for its "anti-India mentality" in proposing a boycott of the 2022 Games. He also said that every time India performs well, efforts are made to change the rules. He also said that India is not a slave to any country.
