India has voted in favor of a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for Israel to withdraw from Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, which have been occupied since 1967. The resolution also emphasized the need for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

The draft resolution, titled "Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine," was presented by Senegal and passed with overwhelming support. A total of 157 nations voted in favor, while eight countries, including Israel and the United States, voted against it. Several nations, including Cameroon, Czechia, and Ukraine, abstained from voting.

The resolution strongly advocates for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and demands Israel’s withdrawal from these areas, including East Jerusalem. It calls for the recognition of the Palestinian people's rights to self-determination and the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

The General Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to the two-state solution, with both Israel and Palestine coexisting peacefully within recognized borders, based on the pre-1967 lines. The resolution also urged Israel to comply with international law, end its unlawful presence in the occupied territories, halt settlement activities, and evacuate settlers. It further condemned any efforts to alter the demographic or territorial status of Gaza, stressing that the Gaza Strip should remain an integral part of the Palestinian territory.

In addition, the resolution called for a complete and immediate cessation of all violence, including military attacks, terrorism, and provocation.

India also supported a separate resolution in the General Assembly, which called for Israel to withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan region, in line with relevant Security Council resolutions. This resolution passed with 97 votes in favor, 64 abstentions, and eight votes against, including those from Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The resolution criticized Israel's continued occupation of the Syrian Golan and called for the repeal of Israel’s 1981 decision to impose its laws in the region.
