New Delhi: India is fully ready to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 8th time. Voting in this regard will be held on June 17 from the United Nations General Assembly. In this election, India stands unopposed in the election of five members out of 10 non-temporary members. Even after this, the Foreign Minister of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar has started a campaign to secure India's seat in the UNSC.

India is the lone candidate in the Asia-Pacific group this time. In this case, India's victory is certain. Elections for the five temporary seats of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) are to be held this month. The Foreign Minister released the brochure on Friday, stating India's priorities for the UNSC. India has been serving in UNSC till 2011 and 2012. Dr. Jaishankar said, 10 years ago we were elected to the UNSC. We are facing four different challenges for global peace and security. Tension is rising in the normal process of internal governance. He said that during the epidemic like Coronavirus, there is a lot of pressure on the global community. If elected in the UNSC for January 2021, India's vision for the world will be 5S - respect, dialogue, cooperation, peace and prosperity.

We have always been a voice and a voter of international law. We advocate dialogue, consultation and fairness on the global issue and we emphasize on global development."
