India has earned a spot in the World Test Championship game. The World Test Championship 2023 will be played at The Oval between them and Australia.

India has secured a position in the World Test Championship final, which will take place at The Oval on June 7, after an exhilarating last-ball victory for New Zealand ended Sri Lanka's effort to finish in the top two.

India has qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final for the second time in a row after New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka in the opening match on Monday in Christchurch.

On June 7, India and Australia will square off at The Oval in a summit match. After placing second in the previous cycle, India also made history by being the first team to compete in both WTC Finals. In the 2021 WTC Final, India was defeated by New Zealand under the direction of Virat Kohli.
As Australia secured a position in the WTC Final, Sri Lanka and India were vying for the remaining spot.
India defeated Australia in the first two Border Gavaskar Trophy matches, which were played in Nagpur and New Delhi, while the visitors triumphed at the Test match in Indore to clinch a position in the WTC Final.
India needed to defeat Australia in the fourth Test to guarantee automatic entry into the major match. Otherwise, India's destiny would depend on the outcome of the two-match Test series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Sri Lanka needed to win both Test matches in order to surpass India in the WTC standings for a spot in the WTC Final. No of how the second Test against New Zealand turns out, Sri Lanka will finish third in the standings due to their failure to win the first Test.

For the hosts at this point, the outcome of the fourth Test match between Australia and India is meaningless. India currently holds the Border Gavaskar Trophy and leads the four-match series 2-1.

India's cycle campaign got underway in England, where they had a 2-1 series lead over Joe Root's team. However, Covid forced the fifth Test to be postponed until 2022.

Even though they won convincing home series against New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh to prepare for their run to the WTC final, they would ultimately lose the fifth Test match in Birmingham.
