New Delhi: In a recent development, India has vowed to engage in a legal battle to secure the release of eight former Indian Navy personnel who were handed death sentences by a court in Qatar. The Ministry of External Affairs is actively looking into the matter, and the nation has expressed its stance on the issue.

The verdict, which came as a shock to India, was delivered by a Qatari court, sentencing the eight Indian nationals to death. These former Navy personnel had been employed by the private company Al Dahra and were arrested in August the previous year on charges related to alleged espionage. The Ministry of External Affairs responded to the verdict by stating, "We are deeply shocked by the verdict of a death penalty and are awaiting the detailed judgment. They also pledged to provide continued consular and legal assistance to the Indian nationals and expressed their strong commitment to the case.
