New Delhi: India is set to host the third edition of the Voice of the Global South Summit on August 17. The virtual event, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will address crucial issues such as conflicts, development challenges, and climate change.

This summit aims to create a platform for countries from the Global South to share their perspectives and priorities. The first summit occurred in January 2023, and the second in November 2023, following India's hosting of the G20 Summit.

The inaugural summit's theme was "Unity of Voice, Unity of Purpose," while the second focused on "Together, for Everyone's Growth, with Everyone's Trust." These summits have drawn participation from over 120 countries, highlighting topics like climate change, sustainable development, global governance, and international cooperation.

Ministerial sessions will include foreign, education, finance, environment, energy, health, and trade ministers.

Key announcements from India include Prime Minister Modi inaugurating the Global South Centre of Excellence, known as 'Dakshin'—meaning the South. This center will serve as an interface to strengthen collaboration among Global South countries.
