India is bracing for severe weather as heavy rainfall is expected today across several states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Telangana, Gujarat, Assam, and Meghalaya, signaling the likelihood of significant rainfall.

The IMD has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated areas in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region likely to experience extremely heavy downpours. West Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, the Gujarat region, and Marathwada are also expected to receive substantial rainfall today.

Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which have been dealing with severe flooding and waterlogging over the past two days, are anticipated to receive more rain. The IMD has highlighted the possibility of thunderstorms with gusty winds in Telangana and lightning in various other regions, including Bihar, Jharkhand, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The weather agency has also warned of squally conditions, with wind speeds potentially reaching 35-45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, over the north Arabian Sea and adjacent areas.

Between September 2nd and 4th, heavy rainfall is expected in Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, and Mahe. Eastern Rajasthan is likely to see significant rainfall over the next seven days, while Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh are predicted to experience heavy rains from September 2nd to 4th.
