India to take on Pakistan in Asia Cup men's hockey on May 23

Defending champions India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the first match of the Asia Cup Men's Hockey tournament on May 23. The tournament is scheduled to be played from May 23 to June 1. India and Pakistan will take on each other in the last match on the opening day of the tournament. Tokyo Olympics bronze medal-winning Indian team has been placed in Pool A along with Japan, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

In Pool B are Malaysia, Korea, Oman and Bangladesh. After Pakistan, India will be seen playing Japan on May 24. In the last pool match, he is scheduled to play Indonesia on May 26. The tournament is scheduled to be played in super4 pool format.  

The top 2 teams from every pool are going to reach the next stage. The final is scheduled to take place on June 1. India and Pakistan have won the Asia Cup 3-3 times while South Korea has won the Asia Cup 4 times. India has also won the title in Kuala Lumpur in 2003, Chennai in 2007 and Dhaka in 2017.
