India will soon issue a request for proposals for two 2GW offshore wind energy projects, Power Minister RK Singh said. “India will soon accept bids for 2,000 MW offshore wind energy projects, Without offshore wind energy, our quest would be completed." At the Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting here, Singh stated, "We will invite bids for 1,000 MW in Gujarat and then 1,000 MW in Tamil Nadu."

International investors are being urged to participate in offshore wind bids, said the minister. He also informed the audience about India's plans to accept bids for a nine-gigawatt electrolyzer manufacturing capacity in order to improve the country's green hydrogen production.

The minister encouraged the international community to establish a fund to support storage and renewable energy initiatives.

According to the minister, India's current clean energy capacity is 160 GW, and it could have been 10 to 15 GW higher if the pandemic had not occurred. In response to a coal scarcity at power plants, he declared that India is capable of dealing with the situation.
