Indian archers put up a stellar performance to win three gold and one bronze medal at the Asia Cup Stage 2 here on Tuesday. The trio of Preneet Kaur, Aditi Swami and Sakshi Chaudhary defeated Kazakhstan 204-201 to give India its first gold medal in the continental event.
The Indian men's team of Prathamesh Phuge, Rishabh Yadav and Jawkar Samadhan defeated Bangladesh 224-218 in a one-sided final to clinch their second gold medal for India. Samadhan defeated Sergey Khristich 147-145 in the bronze medal play-off match to clinch the second medal. With Samadhan's bronze, India made a clean sweep in the compound men's individual category where Prathamesh and Rishabh are scheduled to clash in the gold medal bout on Wednesday.
India won the third gold medal in the compound mixed team event when the pair of Prathamesh and Parneet defeated the Kazakhstan duo of Adil Zeshenbinova and Kristich 158-151. On wednesday, the final day of the competition, the Indian archer is set to challenge for 7 gold, two silver and one bronze medal.
